MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
The incumbent must meet all of the following minimum requirements: (1) Never have been found by credible evidence, e.g. a court or jury, a department investigation or other reliable evidence to have abused, neglected or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct; (2) be at least 18 years of age; (3) have current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in CPR and a triennial training program in first aid which have been offered by certified or licensed health care professionals and which dealt with the provision of emergency care to infants and children if the caregiver is to be counted as part of the 50% of the child care staff with the required current evidence of CPR and first aid training; (4) not be suffering from any physical handicap or mental health disorder, which would interfere with the person's ability to perform assigned job duties adequately; (5) not have a criminal record; (6) have either a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) or one year’s qualifying early child care experience.
Note:  Pre-K Instructor positions must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related degree as a minimum qualification.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
(In addition to minimum qualifications) one year experience as a Pre-K teacher at a child care center. Prefer creative curriculum training.
 
Must have one (1) of the following valid and current credentials listed below:
 
  • ECE or ECE-Related Bachelor’s Degree – Four Year Degree or higher credential (Masters, Specialist, etc.) in Early Childhood Education (P-5), Birth Through Kindergarten, Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum (P-5), Special Education Preschool (ages 3-5), Child and Family Development, Child Development, Elementary Education, Elementary Reading and Literacy, Family & Consumer Science/Home Economics, Infant and Child Development, Special Education General Curriculum, Special Education Adapted Curriculum.
  • Bachelor’s Degree not related to Early Childhood Education:  An Instructor with a Bachelor’s degree not related to Early Childhood Education must also hold one of the following approved ECE credentials:  1) Associate degree with ECE major; 2) Technical College Diploma (TCD) with ECE major; 3) Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) with ECE major (The Early Childhood Care and Education Program Administration TCC program is designed to prepare students for a job as manager of a Childcare Learning Center and will not meet the TCC requirement.); 4) Montessori Diploma (Montessori courses must be taken from an accredited affiliate of the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE)).
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The GA Lottery Pre-Kindergarten Instructor is responsible for planning, preparing and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children attending a GA Lottery Pre-K program, in accordance with the Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL)/Bright from the Start, and the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS). Plans, prepares and implements developmentally appropriate activities. Observes and evaluates individual children. Requests and maintains assigned classroom supplies, materials and equipment. Assists children with meeting and maintaining individual physical needs. Assists with meal preparation, feeding children and play activities. Operates a motor vehicle to transport children on field trips and other activities. Provides appropriate information to and/or participates in team conferences. Observes all policies and procedures established by the Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL)/Bright from the Start, Southern Crescent Technical College, the Technical College System of Georgia, the Department of Human Resources Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Office of School Readiness and the Center of Disease Control's universal precautions and performs other duties as assigned.
 
COMPETENCIES:
 
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs; oral and written communication skills; skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public; decision making and problem solving skills.
 
SALARY:

SPECIAL NOTES:
